    • As I understood it, normally during breeding season, we wouldn’t have been able to get so close, but as we were there just before their migration South, all the eggs have hatched, so we could get a little closer at that time.

      Apparently during non breeding season, the coloured portion of their bills are shed, and the colours of their feathers fade. They will regrow a new bill for each breeding season! Sexual selection at its finest
