About

Hello there,

This is a photoblog of an amateur photography enthusiast.

I love to travel with my all-round amazing wife (Darwinontherocks). Whenever we visit somewhere interesting, I try to record as much of what I see as possible, to serve as aide mémoire, and to share with others, of the beauty we had seen.

Since I was introduced to WordPress, I discovered what a warm and nurturing environment this is, to share oneself with the world. I have thus far made many new friends around the world, all the relative comfort of my chair.

Please feel free to browse and comment, do not hesitate to contact me, I would love to hear any suggestions that you might have.

  2. Just popped over to check out your blog and say thanks for kindly placing a follow on my own humble blog. Not sure whether this has anything to do with also featuring cute Icelandic puffins or not, but either way you are warmly welcomed aboard. Having parachuted onto your about page let me now take the tour of your site (initial impressions are I like your attitude) MM 🍀

    1. Dear MM,
The tag browsing function on WordPress Reader, is something that I use to seek out posts from other likeminded individuals, and perhaps learn something in the process since I am rather new to this blogging business.
I do recall finding your cute puffin photo, and was intrigued by your blog name, I wanted to find out just how meticulous, Mick really is. What I found was a concoction of well composed, thoughtful photographs and posts.

Thank you for parachuting by, and I hope that my photographs, as well as my attitude are to your taste.

      1. I meant Twitter because it’s a nice platform to share content, especially about nature. I won’t put my e-mail here but if you contact me through my contact page, then I’ll have your e-mail.

  4. Dear L, enjoyed a virtual ramble through your latest adventure in Sweden. See we have similar experiences – witnessing the dancing Auroras, and discovering icy snow hotel tourism. Such magic in the makings. For me photography in such freezing temperatures was a challenge…. and now I’m all the more in awe of photographers capturing scenes of the extreme North.

    1. Hey Liz, thanks for stopping by. Lapland was one of my favourite places. In fact, we prefer cooler climates, and fare rather well in them. Standing in -25C for hours on end was quite an experience, each breath I took instantly become an icy film on the camera, I was pretty glad that my Nikon had survived the trip!

      1. Oh you are too kind, I am very much an amateur still, and hope to get better at it 🙂
You have some beautifully scenic photos on your blog as well. I’m jealous of your living in Seattle, it was one of our favourite cities, I miss the good coffee and the seafood very much!

Seattle is beautiful and we are enjoying our stay here. Though I know you will miss seeing Starbucks in every lane 🙂
